Calypso is an all-tube linestage suitable for audio and home cinema systems. Fully balanced circuitry from input to output, including internal balancing of single-ended inputs, results in common mode signal rejection and cleaner sound. The innovative discrete switched resister volume control maximises resolution at any listening level. Every input is both single-ended and balanced for greater versatility.

The Signature version uses custom-made inter-stage Teflon hybrid coupling capacitors, replacing the polypropylene units, between the gain stage and output stage (2 per channel). The change in these capacitors results in higher resolution, extension, less grain and more air. The 2uF output coupling capacitors (4 per channel) are replaced with 4uF Dynamicaps. This change provides more drive, bass extension, resolution and dynamics while also reducing grain. Highly specialized adjustable air-core capacitors, used primarily in the radio-frequency realm, are installed and adjusted to "tweak" each unit to a rigid standard.

The Pandora is a vacuum tube based digital-to-analog converter with one USB and three SPDIF inputs.

High quality construction techniques include an all-aluminum chassis, stainless steel faraday cage to isolate digital sections, multiple power transformers in a stainless steel enclosure, and multiple regulation stages. These components raise the bar for all digital products.

Pandora Signature offer true native DSD 1x and 2x functionality over USB. The entire DSP processing section is replaced (pictured above, click to enlarge). The new section includes an advanced Xilinx gate-array which allows the DSP to be completely bypassed for pure DSD 1x and 2x operation. No alteration of DSD data occurs. Many DACs in the market that claim to play DSD actually convert the data to PCM and thereby completely lose the purpose of DSD operation.

Replacing the XP-10, the XP-12 incorporates three notable design changes. The large toroid is impregnated with epoxy and encapsulated within both an electrostatic and a mu-metal shield, to ensure electrical and mechanical silence. The power supply has lower noise due to revised filtering. And the volume control is now the low noise and distortion type, with one hundred 1dB steps (previously used only in much more costly Pass Labs pre-amps). The gain stage has also changed to a simpler, higher current design that can drive longer interconnects.
